Dr. Brian Spilker

Owner & Head Veterinarian

Hello, my name is Dr. Brian Spilker.  I grew up on a farm near Beatrice, Nebraska where we always had several pets.  I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science in 1993 and received my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 1997.  After graduating from veterinary school, I moved to the Lugoff area and worked in a local small animal veterinary clinic for eight years.  For the next three and one-half years, I performed emergency work at South Carolina Veterinary Emergency Care in Columbia, SC.  In December 2008, my dream of veterinary clinic ownership was accomplished when I became the new owner of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery.  I have been blessed with a wonderful, friendly, and well-trained staff who works well together in a family atmosphere. I was awarded as the 2012-2013 Business Person of the Year by the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce. I look forward to providing excellent patient care for your pets.

My wife, Jennifer, moved to Camden, SC from Leavenworth, KS.  She was a professional hunter jumper horse trainer/rider.  We were introduced to one another by one of my employees at the time who rode horses with Jen.  We were married in April 2005 and have been blessed with two wonderful children.  Trenton was born June 2007 and Skylar was born May 2010.  We have several pets in our household: an Australian Terrier named Noel, a terrier mix named Zoe, a blonde Labrador Retriever named Chase, and a rescue cat named Rocky.

Please stop by Veterinary Medicine & Surgery for a visit – we would love to give you a tour of our facility!!
